You’ve heard that using social media is one of the best ways to get consumers to notice your business. Social media is actually the most important tool in your online marketing toolbox. It may be overwhelming if you aren’t familiar with the ins and outs of social media and you may just want to plow ahead. However, a better way to get acquainted with social media is to start small and build up so you are effectively and efficiently managing all of your social media pages and sites.

Pick a Site

Maybe you run a business that offers website design. You need to get the word out there about the web design cost of the services you offer. Create a Facebook page for your business and add as much information about your company as you can. Put your website link there, any blogs or media pages you have, and upload some photos to create an online portfolio, if you have them.

Now, start getting some attention. Have friends, family and clients “Like” your page, which will bring it up in others’ News Feeds so they will see it. Start writing posts daily (or weekly) about what you offer so people will see your page. Make sure you use the name of your business or some SEO keywords in the web address of your Facebook page so it will come up easily during searches.

Social Media Strategy

Managing More Media

If you don’t have time to keep up with your social media sites, have someone else help you with it. Make sure the page is updated regularly and think about the kinds of things you want to talk about on your page. Now that you’ve managed to handle Facebook consider adding some more media to your advertising strategy.

Other types of social media, including Twitter, Yelp, YouTube and Pinterest, all accomplish the same goal. They get your message out there and allow consumers to have close contact with you and form a relationship that will create a sense of familiarity. This give and take between consumer and company makes for a more friendly relationship, while making the consumer feel that they are genuinely important to you.

Keeping People Clicking

So you have a few social media pages running and things are going well. How do you keep up the interest on your sites? That’s simple. Update, update, update. Updating is the easiest way to keep content fresh, keep customers engaged and give them a reason to keep visiting your page. When you have anything new to show, upload photos or YouTube videos to let customers see it.

Are you running any specials or promotions? Post about them to let customers know. Keep the interaction going.

Engage With People

Social media means having to be, well, social! Answer questions that customers post, interact with people on your pages, and let them know you’re a real person that cares, not just a company. Make interaction fun and offer contests for followers that will allow them to get coupons or services for a discount. Make advertising fun and you will reap the rewards.
